As World Cup Football fever peaks with the grand finale on 18 December 2022, the Japan International Corporation Agency, Sri Lanka Tourist Board and premier connectivity provider, Dialog Axiata have partnered to showcase the world premier event LIVE between Argentina and France on a giant screen from 8.30 p.m. onwards at Negombo Beach Park and CH&FC Ground, Colombo.

The Football World Cup, which is the most watched team sport in the world, commenced its group stage on 20 November 2022 in Doha, Qatar, which was the first time a world event was held in the Middle East.

Japan International Corporation Agency, the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and Dialog Axiata joined hands to showcase the world event in Negombo Beach’s FIFA World Cup Fan Zone, to assist the tourism industry that since recently is seeing the return of foreign visitors who come to enjoy Sri Lanka’s world class beaches, surf and hospitality. The fan zone in Negombo, which is endorsed by FIFA, will feature live bands, DJ music, dance acts, magic shows, food stalls and live action stations for the crowd to enjoy.

Sri Lanka’s number one television experience, Dialog Television is the official Direct-to-Home PayTV partner in Sri Lanka for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

JICA along with Dialog gave two schools from Kurunegala and Vavuniya an opportunity to watch the FIFA World Cup Japan vs. Costa Rica match LIVE and play a few friendly games amongst each other in an initiative recently.

In the 2018 final, France beat Croatia 4-2 to secure their second world title at the Luzhinki Stadium, Moscow, Russia.
