Fairfirst Insurance who has always been an ardent supporter of Sri Lanka’s budding sporting talents has once again come on board as sponsor of the National Basketball team. The 15 member squad led by Captain Roshan Fernando will be partaking in the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) pre qualifier games in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The SABA Championship will kick off from 26 June to 30 June and will act as a pre-qualifier for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021. According to the new format, India, the defending champions have already placed themselves in the “A” Division. This leaves Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan battling it out at the pre-qualifiers stage.

With seven players from last year’s squad, the team also includes Isuru Perera and Roshan Randima of Fairfirst. Both players have been exceptional performers in Mercantile Basketball and incidentally a part of the squad that represented Sri Lanka in last year’s FIBA 3x3 World Cup in France.
