Fatal motor accident in Panadura: SLC hands Kusal Mendis charge sheet

Sri Lanka Cricket has handed Sri Lanka cricketer and captain of defending Premier League Tier A champions CCC Kusal Mendis a charge sheet with regard to him being involved in a fatal motor car accident in Panadura in July where a cyclist was killed.  

“The disciplinary committee has given Kusal a charge sheet last week and he has been given time to respond,” said SLC CEO Ashley de Silva.

“If he is not guilty then we will have an inquiry and if he pleads guilty then you need not have a kind of inquiry. We can take the decision then and there,” he said. 

Mendis was released on bail and has to appear in court on 9 September. (ST)
