Fazil opts out of Coaching Sevens outfit

Former Kingswood, Kandy SC player, Kandy SC Head Coach and national player Fazil Marija has opted out of the national sevens coaching ahead of the Asia Rugby tournament which is scheduled to take place in UAE during 19 and 20 November. 

Speaking to Daily FT, Fazil said: “I cannot leave my business for one month since their (SLR) contract is only for one month. I was expecting something on a long term in order to improve sevens rugby in the country. 

“Within 20 days you cannot do miracles with the boys. I need a long-term plan if we are to go to the next level in Asia Rugby.” With Fazil pulling out from sevens coaching, former Kingswood, Kandy SC, Navy SC, national players and former Joes, Isipathana and Trinity Coach Nilfer Ibrahim is tipped to take over the coaching role.
