The first of 32-rain washed out rescheduled matches produced a rare result in the SLC Major T20 inter-club tournament continued on Sunday when Galle CC and Kalutara TC figured in a tie at the NCC grounds.
With heavy morning rain delaying the start the match was reduced to a six-over shoot-out. Galle CC electing to bat first scored 30-9 in their allotted overs with left-arm orthodox spinner Inshaka Siriwardena returning career best figures of 5 for 5.
Kalutara TC in reply were 26-7 at the start of the final over and required five to win. They managed three runs off the first three balls before losing two wickets off the next two. With two runs needed for victory off the last ball the last pair ran a bye to tie the scores.
In the other match played yesterday a fine spell of left-arm fast bowling by former St. Sebastian’s College all-rounder Anuk Fernando (3/19) saw Badureliya SC beat Lankan CC by 21 runs. In a low scoring game Badureliya SC made only 118-7 but did well to restrict Lankan CC to a total of 97-7.
