Former England cricketer Ian Bell to assist Sri Lanka on England tour

Ian Bell, the former England and Warwickshire cricketer, will assist Sri Lanka as a batting consultant during their three-Test tour of England starting this month.

“Ian will join the team from 16 August or from 19 August as a batting consultant to the team,” said Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva.

“He will coordinate work with the team’s batting coach Thilina Kandamby, giving valuable insights to English conditions and pitches.”  

Bell is currently involved with Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, and will join the Sri Lanka team on 16 August if Birmingham fail to qualify for the final. If not, on 19 August after the final. Bell (42) played as an England top order batsman from 2004-2015 appearing in 118 Tests, 161 ODIs, and eight T20Is. – (ST)
