Four teams make winning start to MCA ‘D’ Division 40-over league tournament

David Pieris Motor Company, Central Finance, Expolanka Group and the Delmage Group made winning starts at the MCA ‘D’ Division 40-over league tournament 2018 for the 15th Ceylon Cold Stores Plc Elephant House Lemonade Trophy which began last weekend.

There were notable performances from Aravinda Vithanachchi from Expolanka Group (6.3-2-16-5 against Hilton Colombo Residencies); John Peter from DPMC (77 in 69 balls with one six and 10 fours against MAST Industries), Akila Elabodage from DPMC (55 runs and 4 for 26 against MAST Industries) and Aravinda Rajapaksa from MAST Industries (77 runs against DPMC).

Opening weekend’s match results (four matches).

At Ratmalana: David Pieris Motor Company beat MAST Industries by 51 runs.

At Ratmalana: Central Finance beat Nations Trust Bank ‘B’ by eight wickets.

At Thurstan: Expolanka Group beat Hilton Colombo Residencies by 137 runs.

At Darley Road: Delmage Group beat NDB Bank by seven wickets.

Delmage – 130/3 (18.3) (Isuru Vidana 32 not out, Nuwan Suranga 45 not out, A. Segar 2/20).

The tournament will continued on 3 February with a short card of two matches.
