Former CH&FC crack winger, Sri Lanka sevens, fifteens player and national rugby selector Chandrishan Perera will be supported with a fundraiser game on 9 April at Havelock Park under floodlights. He is on a wheelchair at present. This event will be organised by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR).

Speaking to Daily FT, SLR Vice President Nazeem Mohamed said: “This encounter will be played between the Kandy Origin players vs Colombo Origin players which will be used as a yard stick for the national fifteens outfit for the Taipei tour which will take place in late April for the Asian Rugby Championship Division 1.

“Sri Lanka, Singapore, Taipei and Philippines will scrum down in the event. Both outfits will be selected by the national rugby selections committee and SLR will appoint with the respective coaching staff for both the units two weeks prior to the event. Havelock Sports Club has come forward to offer the ground for this worthy cause.”

Nazeem further said: “We would like to invite all past players, administrators and spectators to come in numbers to help out Shan who has given the best for Sri Lankan rugby.”
