Galle Marvels will show their support for the Dambulla Sixers’ breast cancer awareness initiative by wearing a special jersey combining pink with their usual neon green during their Lanka Premier League 2024 match at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on 14 July.

The Dambulla Sixers will sport pink jerseys featuring a pink ribbon to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage self-examinations. This initiative, inspired by successful campaigns in other cricketing nations, aims to significantly impact cancer awareness in Sri Lanka.

“We have decided to dedicate this match to my heavenly abode mother “Panna Thakkar”. She passed away losing battle to cancer. I fully support this worthy cause by the Dambulla Sixers. To promote further awareness, the Galle Marvels will also add a pink element to our playing jerseys,” said Galle Marvels Owner Prem Thakkar.

Additionally, Galle Marvels will invite 100 impoverished children to cherish the match in Colombo on 14 July with other exhibitors and make it a memorable event for them. A cumulative initiative by the owners of Galle Marvels - Prem Thakkar, Himanshu Patel, Malav and Neil Patel.

Sri Lanka Cricket fully endorses this noble cause and have made special arrangements for the ‘Pink Day’ through their Strike with Hope campaign.

“I am extremely happy with the interest shown by Galle Marvels for this worthy cause, and such collaboration certainly will help to make the ‘Pink Day’ a great success,” said Lanka Premier League 2024 Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela. Beyond playing exciting cricket under the leadership of Niroshan Dickwella, the Galle Marvels have engaged in numerous off-field activities, such as organising a vehicle parade with players and fans in Galle and hosting a cooking competition among team members on a free day.
