In a high scoring one-day game Australia ‘A’ rode on Cameron Green’s unbeaten innings of 119 off 111 balls and his unbroken partnership of 116 with skipper Alex Carey (52* off 51 balls) to beat Sri Lanka ‘A’ by seven wickets in the first unofficial ODI played at the SSC grounds yesterday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Green hit three sixes and nine fours as he also shared a third wicket stand of 121 with Matt Renshaw (68 off 69 balls) as Australia ‘A’ chased down Sri Lanka ‘A’s total of 297-7 to win with 14 balls to spare.
Half-centuries from Oshada Fernando (65 off 82 balls) and captain Dhananjaya de Silva (68 off 70 balls) saw Sri Lanka ‘A’ to a challenging total after being invited to bat first.
The second unofficial ODI will take place at the same venue tomorrow.
