HNB Assurance, HNB General Insurance runners-up at Mercantile Div. 2 Football League

HNB Assurance (HNBA) and HNB General Insurance (HNBGI) showcased their exceptional sporting prowess by securing the runners-up position at the Division Two Mercantile Football League 2023. 

The stellar performance throughout the tournament not only solidified their position as formidable competitors but also propelled them into a well-deserved promotion to Division One for the upcoming season. The HNBA and HNBGI team’s journey to the final was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by an unbeaten streak that set the stage for a thrilling championship clash. The final match, which ended with a narrow margin encapsulated the conclusion of their remarkable season.

During the group stages, Team HNBA were the highest goal-scorers, notching an impressive 10 goals in three matches. M. Nitharshan, a standout player from the HNBA and HNBGI team, further embellished the team’s achievements by representing Sri Lanka in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup qualifiers. 

Looking ahead, HNBA and HNBGI gear up for the challenges of division one in the upcoming season, where the organisations eagerly anticipate continued triumphs on the football field.
