Dennis De Rosayro Fair Play Trophy – Commercial Bank

The 45th Annual Mercantile Hockey 7-a-side tournament concluded with an exhilarating finale, as HNB and Browns secured championship titles in their respective divisions, while the Commercial Bank was honoured with the prestigious Dennis De Rosayro Fair Play Trophy.

In a fiercely contested final in the A Division, HNB emerged victorious after a thrilling penalty shootout against MAS Holdings, clinching the championship title with a 3-2 victory. Sharmal Dissanayake from MAS Holdings was recognised as the Best Player for his stellar performance throughout the tournament.

In the B Division, Browns showcased their dominance with an unbeaten streak, securing a 1-0 victory over Hayleys in the final match to claim the championship title. Pathum Prabodha from Browns was honoured as the Best Player for his outstanding contributions on the field.

Adding to the excitement, Seylan Bank dominated the C Division, securing victory with an impressive 5-0 win over NTB in the final match. Jeffrey Irshard from Seylan Bank was recognised as the Best Player for his exceptional skills and leadership.

In the D Division, DPMC emerged triumphant with a convincing 2-0 win over Orient Finance in the final showdown. U. Rangana from DPMC was lauded as the Best Player for his remarkable performance throughout the tournament.

The F Division witnessed Sampath Bank B emerging victorious after defeating MAS Holding B with a commendable 2-0 victory in the final match. Malinda Abenayake from Sampath Bank B was awarded the Best Player accolade for his exceptional skills and leadership.

The event was honoured by the presence of Swisstek Aluminium Assistant General Manager – Sales and Marketing Romesh Perera, who attended as the Chief Guest.

The Mercantile Hockey Association extended its heartfelt congratulations to all the winning teams and participants for their remarkable performances and looks forward to another successful tournament next year.
