  • Two winners of HSBC Premier Golf to witness the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews

Connecting customers to new opportunities, HSBC will host clients to a fun-filled weekend of golf with two back-to-back tournaments held in Colombo from 11-13 February, with a once in a lifetime opportunity for the winners to witness the 150th Open Championship which will be held at St. Andrews, Scotland.

The three-day golf event will begin with the HSBC 5-Club Stableford Golf Tournament scheduled from 11 and 13 February followed by HSBC’s exclusive Premier Golf Tournament held for the ninth year on 12 February at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). Both events will conclude with an awards ceremony held on 13 February at the RCGC.

This year also marks 26 years since HSBC sponsored the first Stableford Golf Tournament in 1996.

As with each year bringing forth more participation, this year’s tournaments are expected to see an increased number of seasoned golfers participating in the Men’s A, B and C divisions as well as the Ladies’ and Seniors’ categories, showcasing their golfing skills and vying for the prestigious HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy and the HSBC 5-Club Trophy

The key highlight this year is that the two winners of the HSBC Premier Golf Tournament will each receive a hospitality package to witness the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews in Scotland from 14-17 July, which will undoubtedly be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

HSBC is a patron of The Open Championship and a supporter of Golf across key markets. In Asia, HSBC has been at the forefront of the expansion of the game, spearheading world-class golf events such as its flagship WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai and HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, as well as grassroots level to increase both interest and participation in the game.

HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives CEO Mark Surgenor said: “The HSBC 5-Club tournament has been a flagship event for HSBC and we are delighted to continue this event, now in its 26th year. This year, we are also very excited to be able to leverage on our global sponsorship of The Open and offer two lucky winners of our Premier Golf tournament the opportunity to witness the 150th Open Championship in July which is Golf’s oldest major championship, as we mark our 130th anniversary in Sri Lanka.

“We hope our customers will enjoy the fellowship and hospitality, as we connect with them at our flagship Golf event in Sri Lanka. “

HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the player with the highest Stableford points in any handicap group including Seniors and Ladies.

The HSBC 5-Club Tournament is open to all golfers of the RCGC with an active valid club handicap, while the HSBC Premier Golf Tournament will be open to all HSBC Premier golfers in the Men’s A, B and C divisions as well as the Ladies’ and Seniors’ categories.
