Trinity College fired all cylinders in order to secure a 22/11 hard fought win against the hosts Zahira at Maradana.
At the short breather, Trinity led 14/6.
Rahul Danaraj, who had a grand game at Number 8 position, powered his way through for a fine try for Trinity. Minidu Jayasundera put over the conversion from a difficult angle. A few minutes later, Zahira reduced the lead through an Abdul Salam penalty. Tehan Karunanayake scored Trinitians second try. Minidu was on target with the conversion kick.
There was time for one more penalty by Salam to take the short breather at 14/6 favouring Trinity. Trinity scored a superb three-quarter move when Reshan Bandaranayake who did the hard work by covering nearly 50 meters before passing it on to Janidu Ratnayake to touch down.
Zahira scored their only try of the match through Atheik Alahudeen. Jayasundera put over one more penalty to seal the win for Trinity. Trinity missed out on five of of their senior players due to injury worries but will be at their best against Isipathana next week-end in the Hills.

Isipathana hand off Antonians
Isipathana College started their 2019 rugby season with a bang when they handed off the Antonians 30/6 at Havelock Park.
At the short breather, Isipathana led 12/6.
Isipathana scored their tries through Nipul Athukorala, Nadeesh Chaminda, skipper Serasinghe, Kalhara with Ruberu doing the kicking duties while for the losers, their two penalties were put over by Thirusha Ekanayake.

Great start for Royal
Royal got off to a fantastic start in order to defend the Singer League when they outclassed the newcomers in to top division Maliyadeva by 62/6.
At the short breather, Royal led 24/3.Royal scored through Nipuna Yasojana (2), Dulan Goonawardena (2), Ravinjana Jayasuriya (2), skipper Thulaib Hassen, Tuan Jayah and Rashmika. Kicking duties were done by Dulan while for Maliyadeva their penalties were scored by Gunaweera.
Winning start for Joes and Thomians
Meanwhile in the other two opening games, the Thomians shocked the Peterites 20/19 at Mount Lavinia and Joes got the better of the Science test 20/14 at Longdon Place.
