Harin Fernando takes over Ministry of Sports

Harin Fernando, former Joes rugby player in the late 90s, and one of the youngest politicians who contested from Badulla, was appointed as the Minister of Sports recently.

Fernando will be also responsible for Telecommunications, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment. Speaking to the media, Fernando said: “Sports is a challenging field with many association is a challenging job. I am looking forward to it. I will be getting expert advice from past greats who had played the respective sports at the highest level.” He ended by saying, “I want Sports in the country to be played hard, safe and clean with the correct spirit, and to accept win and defeat in the correct spirit.”
