Haroon Aslam leads the Gold Segment
Reshan Algama ended on top in Silver segment
Thomas Rathis Kanth won the Bronze
Top class junior golfers Haroon Aslam (Gold), Reshan Algama (Silver) and Thejas Rathis Kanth (Bronze) had a great start on the opening day (qualifying round) at the Sri Lanka Junior Match Play championship at the Royal Colombo Golf Course (RCGC) yesterday.
This event is played for Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy sponsored by P&S Ltd.
In the Gold division Haroon Aslam (67) had a great start on day one. He was in fine form with his accuracy and long-range shots. He was followed by K. Danushan (71) and another top performer in the past, Yannik Kumara. Both ended second and third respectively.
In the Silver Division once more, 14-year-old, Reshan Algama (76) was in sensational form. He was followed by Aditha Weerasinghe (80) and Jacob Norton (87).
Meanwhile in the Bronze division Thejas Rathis Kanth (61) was leading the race with his local and overseas experience. Meanwhile another consistent performer, Thomian school boy, Saqeer Zuhar (91) was second while Yehansa Senanayake (93) ended third.
In the Girls event Kaya Daluwatte (73) ended on top with Sherin Balasuriya (77) and Dhavinka Kanag Isvaran (85) ended third.
In the Copper division Danik Daluwatte (50), Jaeden Sathasivam (54) and Yuvan Rathis Kanth (54) ended in top three positions.
The quarter finals will be today (10 August).
