Haroon Aslam and Kaya Daluwatte were in sensational form when both moved past their opponents in their semi-finals yesterday in their P&S Junior Golf Championship which concluded at the Royal Colombo Golf Course.
The final encounters will take place today in the morning hours which will be played for Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy. The award ceremony will take place at 1 p.m.
Haroon Aslam beat Muralitharan while in the second semi-final K. Danushan over-came Vinuda Weerasinghe’s three Birdies to clinch the tensed battle (2/1). In the Girls Gold Segment for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy will see Kaya Daluwatte meet the experienced and confident Sherin Balasuriya in the final. Kaya Daluwatte beat Yelani Peiris (9/8) while Sherin Balasuriya beat Dhevinka Kanag-Isvaran (2/1).
In the Silver Division, once again the juniors in the 12 – 14+ age group category produced some campaign golf where 14-year-old, Reshan Algama overcame Jevahn Sathasivam (2/1) while Jacob Norton beat Adithya Weerasinghe (2/1). Reshan who went one down after the 9th birdied in the 11 and 12 regained and made a strong comeback to gain the lead and to win the encounter in the end.
The Bronze Division final Thejas Rathis Kanth beat Keya Abhayarahne (9/8) while Thomian school boy, Saqeeb Zuhar overcame Yehansa Senanayake (6/4).
The Copper Division for Age group 9+ and over 14 holes Match-play Danik Daluwatte beat Taalia Silva (7/6) while Yuva Rathis Kanth beat Jaeden Sathasivam (4/2).
