Hasara Wijerathne and Hasini Ambalangodage made history for Sri Lanka badminton when the pair clinched the Women’s Doubles title at the Botswana International 2024 on Sunday.

In a thrilling final, the duo showcased astounding skills to overcome South Africa’s Amy Ackerman and Deidre Laurens, ranked 72nd in the BWF World Rankings. The closely contested match ended with a scoreline of 21-18, 22-20, marking Sri Lanka’s first-ever Women’s Doubles victory at a BWF International Level 3 tournament.
