Oliver Buckle of Havelock SC slings out a pass

After poor ball handling in the initial half Havelock Sports Club played better rugby in the later half to beat CH and FC by 28 points (3 tries, 2 conversions, 3 penalties) to 11 points (1 try, 2 penalties) in their Interclub rugby league encounter at the Royal Sports Complex on Saturday.

At the short breather Park Club led 10/8.

It was an error full first half with the Park Club doing most while CH capitalised and played a better brand of rugby though did find the try line only once in the initial half. With the game moving into the second half Havelock Sports Club looked a different outfit playing some cohesive rugby to secure number 3 position in the league which will be used as a yardstick for the Clifford Cup knock out rugby which will be worked off shortly.

Samuel Maduwantha penalty, Sudesh Jayawickrema try and Maduwantha conversion took the Park Club into a 10/0 lead, but CH hit back through Gihan Madushanka try through a forwards rush. Rohitha Rajapakse penalty reduced the gap to 2 points at the short breather.

After the turn around Rohitha Rajapakse put over his second penalty which took CH into the lead at 11/10 but from this moment onwards Park Club made a bold comeback. Samuel Maduwantha penalty took them ahead while they scored their second try through Janidu Fernando and Maduwantha added the extras to take a 20/11 lead. Once more Havies try by Dilshan Chathuranga and Maduwantha penalty took them into third place with an easy 28/11 win.

Referee was Aruna Shantha.
