Havelock Sports Club avoided a possible play off against Kandy SC when they not only beat the Air Force team but also moved to the third position in the ongoing Rugby League competition. In the end, Park club beat Air Force 30/19 at Havelock Park. By the short breather, the Havies led by 15/12.
Two early penalties by Gayantha Iddamalgoda and one by Sandesh Abeywickrema took the game off to a 6/3 and the Air Force in leading, however both teams did some handling errors.
Havies scored their first try through Shanka Kumara and it was converted by the former Peterite, Sandesh Abeywickrema. Iddamalgoda put over his third penalty to reduce the gap to 1 point at 9/10. Azmeer Fajudeen’s try for the Havies and Iddamalgoda’s penalty took the scores to 15/12, favouring the Park club and a short breather was then taken.
After the turn around Fajudeen’s second try plus Sandesh’s conversion and penalty took the Park club to safety at 25/12. It took the Air Force almost 50 pus minutes to cross over the Havies line when Medagedera scored their first try. Iddamalgoda was accurate with his kick at the goal. It was difficult to keep the former Isipathana player, Randy Silva when he crossed the Air Force line for the Park Clubs last try and with a bonus point win.
CR&FC vs. CH&FC postponed
The match between CH&FC against CR&FC scheduled for last week-end was not played due to the inquiry that it may be scheduled to take place today. The tournament committee of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) has decided to take a decision on CR&FC and then decide on this encounter.
Army outclass Navy

Navy SC 26 points
Army Sports Club outclassed Navy Sports Club 45/26, at the Racecourse rugby ground. With this win the Army sealed the fifth position but a possible play in the Cup segment as the outcome of the CR & FC vs Police SC will take place today.
The Army team scored their tries through Madushanka Chandrasekera (2), Sudaraka Dikkumbura, Ashan Bandara, Tomasi Caqusau and Danushka Talwatte. Isuru Medagedera and Chamath Fernando did the kicking duties. Navy SC scored their tries through Radeesha Seneviratne, Raveen De Silva, Charith Silva and Stephen Gregory with Isuru Kongahawatte doing the kicking duties.
