Havies pips CH in tensed encounter

In an intense showdown at the Racecourse Ground, Havelocks SC clinched a hard-fought 27/21 victory over CH and FC in the Interclub Rugby tournament.

The thrilling encounter was marked by dynamic gameplay, strategic brilliance, and a relentless battle for supremacy, making it a spectacle for rugby enthusiasts with Havies leading 17/14 at the short breather.

CH and FC scored tries through Ramesh Fernando (2) and Gimhana Silva while Maliksha Perera converted all three tries. For Havies their tries were scored by Janindu Fernando and Jayathu Rajarathna both scoring 2 tries each. Sandesh Jayawickrema converted two of the tries and put over the penalty.

It was not Havies who won the game but it was the CH who lost the game and now in danger as they are likely to play in the Plate segment for the Super Round.

With the teams getting into the business end now the race is between CR and FC, Kandy SC and Havies for the title.

Referee Ishanka Abeykoon handled the game.
