Hejaaz International School bagged the ‘Best School Award’ at the 11th Asian Karate Championship held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium with over 100 schools vying for the honour.

Hejaaz International School, Mount Lavinia bagged the overall title in the KATA event amidst fierce competition throughout the day, with the boys winning 11 gold medals and 10 silver medals while the girls had 6 gold medals and 19 silvers. This is a tribute to the grit and determination shown by every Hejaazite and the rigorous workout conducted by the trainers, Sensei Chaminda Herath with the boys and Sensei Thilini Kulathunga with the girls.

This is a sport that has gained momentum in the recent past with the school providing ample facilities and opportunities for the students to excel. The dedication shown by the teachers-in-charge, Suranganie Weerasinghe and Achala Wickramasinghe is also commendable.
