IRONKIDS Sri Lanka, which concluded recently, saw 550 children take part in a non-competitive race at Galle Face Colombo. The race started the day before Sri Lanka Wonder of Asia IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo.

The event was open to all children aged from three to 14 years old. Parents/caregivers were able to accompany the younger children. The event featured four distances to cater for all ages and abilities.

The event course covered the entire Galle Face Walk and pavement up to Chaitya Road and the format included a two-kilometre run for the 12-14 year age group, a one and a half kilometre run for the nine to 11 year olds, a one kilometre run for those aged between six to eight years, and a 500 metre run for those aged three to five years.  IRONKIDS is organised and run by Pro-Am and is fully included in the event schedule as a key ancillary event under the IRONKIDS branded finish arch in the official finish chute. The colourful event is bound to attract children from the local community as well of those participating in IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo.

IRONKIDS Sri Lanka is all about inspiring the kids to embrace an active lifestyle from a young age and to make them part of the big IRONMAN 70.3 Colombo event weekend. Participants received an IRONKIDS branded t-shirt, medal and a certificate. The IRONKIDS event is partnered by Shangri-La and Mobitel.
