Impressive Sri Lankan golfers end on number 3

Orion 37th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship 2024

In an impressive display of skill and perseverance, Uchitha Ranasighe secured an overall 3rd place, leaving a mark with a total score of 293 over four rounds, finishing just 5 over par. 

Shahab Uddin of Bangladesh claimed the prestigious first position, delivering an excellent performance with an even par round for the four days, scoring a remarkable 288. Not far behind, Baker Siddik, also from Bangladesh, secured 2nd place with a score of 290 at the 37th Orion Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship which concluded at the Kurmitols Golf Club in Dhaka recently.

Representations were made golfers from South Korea, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Australia, and Sri Lanka graced the event, making it a truly international affair.

Chalitha Pushpika, another talented member of the participating teams, showcased remarkable prowess, securing the 7th position overall with a score of 301, along with Liton Mondol, both representing Bangladesh. Their performances added to the excitement and competitiveness of the championship.

In the team event, Bangladesh’s B team emerged victorious, securing the 1st place with an impressive score of 287. Following closely behind, Bangladesh’s A team secured the 2nd place with a score of 296, demonstrating the depth of talent within the host country. Sri Lanka secured a commendable 3rd place in the team event with a score of 300, showcasing their prowess on the green.

The Sri Lankan team, comprising Uchitha Ranasinghe and Chalitha Pushpika, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the championship.
