The inaugural cricket match between St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena, and S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia, for the Ranjith Fernando-Kumar Boralessa Trophy will take place today and tomorrow at S. Thomas’ College grounds, Mt. Lavinia.
The Thomian team will be captained by Kavindu Dias and the Bens will be led by Sharujan Shanmuganathan.
The two schools have been playing each other since 1912 and this is the first time they are contesting for a trophy which was proposed by the S. Thomas’ College Warden Rev. Marc Billimoria.
S. Thomas’ last win was under the captaincy of Mahith Perera in 2022. St. Benedict’s last win was in 1964 under Sunil Fernando.
