India clinches ICC Champions Trophy

India clinched the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 beating New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai yesterday.

Chasing New Zealand’s score of 251/7, India eased through with 7 balls to spare and lost only six wickets.

Indian openers put up a 105 run partnership in just under 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma top scored with 76 off 83 balls and Shubman Gill scored 31. New Zealand saw Virat Kohli out for 1 thereafter but Shreyas Iyer (48) and Axar Patel (29) brought in stability with a 60 run partnership. Hardik Pandya scored 18 runs in equal number of balls but fell with India needing 11 runs in 15 balls. Wicket keeper K.L. Rahul saw his team through with an unbeaten 34 off 32 balls

In their innings, New Zealand top scorers were Daryl Mitchell 63 and Michael Bracewell 53. Indian bowlers Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav excelled with two wickets each.
