Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that their Sri Lankan tour will take place in August 2020. The postponed series will await the approval from the Indian Government.

India were to play three ODIs and three T-20 Internationals in Sri Lanka during June 2020, but due to travel restrictions this was postponed. Sri Lanka Cricket is expected to fill their kitty through heavy television rights on this tour. With the situation settling down in Sri Lanka spectators are likely to be allowed to witness these 6 encounters.

The outbreak of COVID-19 affected all sporting activities across the globe, and Sri Lanka too suffered with the Test series against England and the limited overs series against South Africa being postponed. SLC confirmed that both series will now take place during 2020.

Meanwhile the Test series against Bangladesh too is likely to be postponed, as many of their senior team members are not showing much interest for the tour to go ahead at this moment due to COVID-19 and the situation in their home country, in addition to training not having started in full swing. The final decision on this will be taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the near future.

Sri Lanka Cricket is also looking forward to host the 6 team’s Local Premier League (LPL) during August 2020.
