The Pin Fernando Grand Prix September 2017 edition witnessed an enthralling finish at the RCGC, when J.M.D. Indika, lying in second place after three rounds, three strokes behind N. Amarapadma, the leader from Round 1, fired a brilliant 3 under par in the final round playing alongside Amarapadma, to snatch victory virtually at the post.

The CAT Solar powered Pin Fernando Grand Prix September edition had 67 starters and the cut-off was implemented at 166 with 28 golfers making the cut.

The scores were not outstanding, demonstrating the fact that conditions were tough but nonetheless, the top 3 finishers proved their mettle with the eventual winner Indika 3 under par over 72 holes and runner-up Amarapadma one stroke behind on 2 under par for the four rounds. The overall Pin Fernando Grand Prix rankings table leader B.A. Sanjeewa finished with a flourish, shooting a three under par final round to maintain third place going into the last round.

The top three finishers in the CAT Solar powered PFGP underlined their consistency with the fact that all three have qualified and have been invited to participate in the Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Championship for the top ranked amateur golfers in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) conducted by R&A, the world-renowned governing body of golf in the United Kingdom.

Annually, the APAGC is conducted with the international participation of the WAGR top ranked players and this year the feature event is scheduled from 23-30 October in Wellington, New Zealand.
