Inter Club 7s kicks off tomorrow

Inter Club Rugby Sevens will kick off on 8 October at 8 am with six A division clubs,  eight provincial teams and four women’s outfit playing in different segments at the Race Course ground. 

In total there will be 20 teams participating in three segments in this shorter version of the game. After nearly five decades there will be a Plantation outfit as well at this tournament.

Day 2 on 9 October will see the Knock out encounters being worked off in each segment.

There will be two A Division teams not locking horns in this event. They are CH and FC and Kandy SC. Kandy SC were to take part in this event but due to the cost of the accommodation not taken care of by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) the Up-Country outfit pulled out of this event which will see majority of the national players not in action in this shorter version of the game.

Segment 1

• Group A- Police, Army SC, CR and FC and Navy Blues
• Group B- Havelock SC, Air Force SC, Navy SC and Western Barbarians

Segment 2

• Group C- Southern Province, North Central Province, Western Province and Sabaragamuwa
• Group D-Up Country Planters, Wayamba Province, Uva Province and Blue Whales (Eastern Province)

Segment 3

• Women’s- Navy SC, Army SC, Air Force SC and CR and FC
