Irish cricketers arrive in Sri Lanka for Test series

The 16-member Ireland Test cricket team led by Andrew Balbirnie arrived in Sri Lanka over the weekend for a two-Test series against Sri Lanka in Galle.

The team arrived from Bangladesh where they lost a one-off Test, a three-match ODI series 2-0 and three-match T20I series 2-1.

Experienced batter Paul Stirling will join the team for the second Test starting on 24 April. The first Test commences on 16 April.

Four of the players representing Ireland are from overseas. Zimbabwe-born wicket-keeper/batsman Peter Moor represented Zimbabwe in 8 Tests from 2016-2018 which includes 3 Tests against Sri Lanka. There are also three South African-born players playing for Ireland – right-arm fast-medium bowler Graham Hume, left-hand batsman Murray Commins and all-rounder (right-hand bat and right-arm medium-fast) Curtis Campher. The rest of the team members are all Irish-born.
