Jaffna Stallions became the first team to reach Hambantota for the upcoming 2020 Lanka Premier League (LPL). The team arrived at the official hotel in Hambantota today (16 November) after successfully completing a three-day residential training camp held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium from 13 to 15 November.
Of the five teams at the 2020 LPL, the Jaffna Stallions were the first to begin training as a team and also reach the LPL premises in Hambantota. The team will soon be joined by the six overseas players, after which training will be resumed.
The 2020 LPL is set to commence on the 26 November. This will be the inaugural edition of the LPL Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka and therefore, a historic event in Sri Lankan cricket.
Jaffna Stallions is a franchise cricket team playing in the 2020 Lanka Premier League (LPL). The team is owned by a consortium of 12 Sri Lankans living in UK, Canada and Australia. The squad is coached by Thilina Kandamby and captained by Thisara Perera; both of whom are seasoned players with years of experience in the field. Jaffna Stallions consists of 20 players, with 14 local and six overseas players.
