The Sri Lankan contingent competing at the World Para Athletics Championship
Sri Lanka will field a nine-member contingent for the World Para Athletics Championship 2019 in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, from 7-15 November, led by star javelin thrower Dinesh Herath.
The Paralympic track and field event, organised by the World Para Athletics Subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee, will see the participation of 114 countries fielding over 1,500 Paralympians at the Dubai event.
At the previous World Para Athletics Championship held in London, UK, Herath secured Sri Lanka’s lone silver medal in the 46 m javelin throw, falling short of the mark of winner Sundar Singh of India by 2.43 m.
The squad for the World Para Athletics Championship 2019 is powered by Dialog. Dialog Axiata is also the sponsor of the Sri Lankan national cricket, rugby, volleyball and netball teams.
