Sri Lanka’s ‘Everest Stars’ – Johann Peries and Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala – will set off on their next big adventure on Thursday 31 January.

This time they are off to the Argentinian Andes to climb the 6,962 metre Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas.

Their mission is to complete ‘The Seven Summits Challenge’ – which is to summit the highest mountains in each of the seven continents of the world. They’ve summited two of the seven mountains already: Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa (2014) and Mt. Everest in Asia (2016 and 2018).

The Argentinian snow-capped Mount Aconcagua is the highest in the South American continent and the third peak they will undertake as part of this challenge. The duo have also selected the more challenging technical route along the Polish Glacier to attempt the summit.
