Half-centuries from captain Kaveesha Dilhari (62 off 93 balls, 4 four, 1 six) and Ama Kanchana (57 off 81 balls, 5 fours) saw Kandy Women pull off a thrilling one-wicket win over Colombo Women at the Colts grounds yesterday. 

A 91-run stand between Navodya Nethmini (33) and skipper Hasini Perera (53 off 84 balls, 7 fours) saw Colombo Women recover from losing both openers without scoring to total 179, but Kandy Women managed to edge through with their last pair Savindi Cooray (12*) and Ashini Samindi (2*) adding 12 valuable runs.

National women’s cricketer Harshitha Samarawickrama hit a magnificent 130* off 133 balls (10 fours, 3 sixes) to help her team Dambulla Women thrash Galle Women by 178 runs at the P Sara Oval. Dambulla Women totalled 280-4 and dismissed Galle Women for 102.

Four teams Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Dambulla are competing in this inaugural women’s national super league.
