Kandy Sports Club continued their winning streak in the Inter Club rugby league encounters when they outplayed Havelock Sports Club by 33 points (five tries, four conversions) to 12 points (two tries, one conversion) win at the Nittawela rugby Stadium yesterday.

At the short breather Kandy led 12/0.

The game did not get the expected level of open rugby as both teams made number of handling mistakes in the initial half. Though Kandy not coming out best still being able to score five tries shows their superiority this season and having clear cut with the others in the tournament.

They continued their winning and unbeaten streak with once again a super effort by Tharinda Ratwatte, Roshan Weeraratne and Buwanaka Udangamuwa along with the returning after injury Kavindu Perera who had a grand outing responsible for excellent support play for the two Kandy tries. Meanwhile for the Park Club Theekshana Dassanayake, Sandesh Abeywickrema, Shaukhat Lahir, Abdullah Fayis and Ajmeer Fajudeen played their hearts out.

Kandy drew first blood in the second minute through a cross-kick by skipper Nigel Ratwatte saw full back Danushka Dyan going over. It took almost another 24 minutes for Kandy to score their second try through winger Diluksha Dange who dummied his way through to score. Tharinda Ratwatte added the extras.

After the breather Kandy scored through Lavanga Perera, Tharindu Chaturanga and Oshan Perera. Tharinda Ratwatte converted two of them while Nigel Ratwatte did the kicking duties in the last one accurately.

Meanwhile the Park Club tries were scored by skipper Mithun Hapugoda and Ajmeer Fajudeen. Sandesh Abeywickrema converted one of them. Referee Ishanka Abeykoon.

Kandy SC will host Police SC in their last second round game on 8 March at Nittawela. Kandy has already kept safe the league title for the record six years in tandem at Nittawela.
