Kandy hand off Sailors and await CR

Defending Cham-pions, Kandy Sports Club completely dominated in a bonus point win plus remained unbeaten in their 6 matches played so far when they outplayed Navy SC by 48 points (7 tries, 5 conversions, 1 penalty) to 7 points (1 try, 1 conversion) at Welisara last weekend.

At the short breather Kandy led 17/7.

Kandy scored their tries through Lavanga Perera, Uditha Jayasuriya, Danushka Ranjan, Thilina Ban-dara, Heshan Jansen, Tharinda Ratwatte and Kavindu Perera. Tharinda converted three of them plus put over a penalty as well while Nigel converted 2 of them. For the Sailors their solitary try was scored by Amith Madushanka with Isuru Kongahawatte added the extra 2 points.

Referee was Ishanka Abeykoon.

Both unbeaten teams in the league so far, CR and FC and Kandy SC will lock horns in the first round encounter to decide the group leaders in their vital clash at Nittawela Rugby Stadium on 21 January.

After completion of round 1 top 4 teams will play in the Cup segment while the bottom 4 will lock horns to take home the Plate trophy.
