Kandy remains unbeaten after overpowering Police

Kandy Sports Club remained as the only unbeaten team in the Inter Club League 2024/2025 when they outplayed Police Sports Club by 43 points (7 tries, 4 conversions) to 22 points (4 tries, 1 conversion) win at Police Park last evening.

At the short breather Kandy led 19/0.

It was one horse race for Kandy who dominated proceedings in this outing. They scored 3 first half tries and 4 more in the later half. Meanwhile Cops who woke up late played a better brand of attacking rugby scoring all 4 tries in the later half after an average first half.

Kandy drew first blood through their powerful hooker former Kingswoodian Dilshard Fareed in the 12th minute of the game. Tarinda added the extra 2 points. Kandy continued to dominate scored their second try through Chathuranga Kudalige who ran circles around the Cops to touch down. Tari added the extra 2 points. Third Kandy try was scored by Danushka Ranjan with his powerful run. At the short breather Kandy led 19/0.

After the turn around Kandy added tries through Dahan Wickremarachchi, Malith Wijesundera and Srinarth Sooriyabandara, Dinal Ekanayake. Four of the try conversions were successful by Tarinda Ratwatte.

Police scored their tries through Malith Mihsara, Hirantha Perera (2) and Shane Hopewood. One of the try conversion was successfully taken by Shane Hopewood.

Referee was Kelum Sandaruwan.
