Kaya
By Shamseer Jaleel
In a remarkable achievement for Sri Lankan golf, 16-year-old Kaya Daluwatte has become the first Sri Lankan to win the A Division of the Indian Golf Union Rotary Bio Gen Junior Girls Championship, which took place in Bangalore, India.
Entering the final round in second place, Kaya displayed exceptional skills and maturity. Consistent in play, she finished with a total of three-under par overall after three days, narrowly securing her victory by just one stroke. Kaya’s win is not only a personal triumph but also a significant moment for Sri Lankan golf. The success reflects the efforts of the Junior Sub- Committee of Sri Lanka Golf, which has worked tirelessly to nurture young talent in the sport, and hopefully, more girls will take up the sport in Sri Lanka.
