Kusal Mendis smashed a 100 off 50 balls inclusive of eight fours and six sixes to lead SLC Yellow to a 25-run win over SLC Reds in the first match of the Sri Lanka T20 World Cup Preparation Tri-Series match played under lights at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.
Mendis and Shevon Daniel (59 off 41 balls, 4 fours, 3 sixes) put on 141 runs for the second wicket off 13 overs. Angelo Mathews provided the final flourish to the innings with a nine-ball cameo 27* that included three sixes. The final over bowled by Pramod Madushan cost 22 runs.
SLC Reds replied with 200-8 with the only innings of note coming off the bat of Kamindu Mendis who scored 82 off 48 balls (6 fours, 4 sixes). Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage was the pick of the Yellow bowlers taking 3/39, while leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay was economical with figures of 1/31 off his 4 overs.
SLC Red meets SLC Green in the second match on 4 May at the same venue.
