The monthly LECTRA Golf Grand-Prix 2019, conducted by Sri Lanka Golf Union, sponsored by Apparel Technology, moved to the well-turned-out Army Golf Course in Diyathalawa.
The April edition teed-off in the cool climes amidst the high-tension curfew that followed the dreadful tragedy that broke out on innocent helpless families, perished in a flash whilst celebrating the most important day in the Christian calendar, Easter Sunday. The senseless brutal devastation of inhumanity caused countless deaths, massacring so many children, mothers and simple people in and around Colombo and as far as Batticaloa too.
The tight, beautiful, nine hole Golf Course with mountainous terrain, in excellent condition, played very well with seven players shooting below the Par of the Course -71.
B. A. Sanjeewa and consistent R. Sureshan shared the lead after Round 1, with a solid 4 under par 67 Gross. Veteran Amarapadma sits 1 stroke behind the joint leaders followed by the trio of Indika, Sampath Kelum and Chalitha Pushpika a further stroke behind. Two-time LECTRA GP 2019 Winner Sisira Kumara came next with a cool 70 three strokes behind the leaders.
Juniors Haroon Aslam 71, Danushan 75, and Dhuwarshan 77, showed maturity playing among the senior Amateurs of Sri Lanka Golf.
