In the lush landscapes of Sri Lanka, cricket is not just a sport; it’s a passion that courses through the veins of young and talented players across villages.

Yet, many of these gifted individuals seldom find a platform to exhibit their skills to the wider world. Recognising this untapped potential, LG-Abans has partnered with the Softball Association of Sri Lanka to launch a groundbreaking initiative that promises to bring these hidden talents into the limelight: the “LG-Abans Champions Trophy with ITN.”

LG has a long-standing commitment to supporting the sporting industry, including the sponsorship of international cricket tournaments and partnerships with some of the most prestigious cricketing events worldwide.

This collaborative effort aims to provide a stage for aspiring cricketers from all corners of the island to showcase their prowess and passion for the game. The tournament, designed in association with the Sri Lanka Soft Ball Association, will feature an island-wide softball cricket championship that spans ten thrilling overs per match.

The journey of this tournament begins with meticulous planning and organisation. Preliminary rounds, set to commence province-wise, each of the nine provinces will be represented by nine ambassadors, including actors, actresses, and popular artists.

Youngsters passionate about softball cricket can seize this opportunity by registering their teams, each comprising 15 members, with 11 players taking the field during matches. The tournament is open to all, one player can only represent one team.  The rewards awaiting the champions and standout performers of this tournament are as enticing as the thrill of the game itself. LG-Abans pledges substantial cash prizes, with the tournament winners claiming an impressive Rs. 1,000,000. The runners-up, third-placed and fourth placed teams will also be generously rewarded with Rs. 500,000, Rs. 250,000 and Rs. 100,000 respectively.

Beyond these top accolades, individual brilliance will be recognised and celebrated with awards such as the Man of the series, Man of the match, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder and Districtwise Special Awards. These recognitions not only honour exceptional talent but also serve as encouragement for players to continue honing their skills and contributing to the vibrant cricketing landscape of Sri Lanka.

LG-Abans’ visionary approach in organising the “LG-Abans Champions Trophy with ITN” underscores their unwavering support for nurturing young talent and providing avenues for dreams to flourish.
