LOLC enters MCA “C” Division 50-Over League beating MAS Unichela

The semi-finals of the ongoing fourth National Development Bank-sponsored “NDB Trophy” – MCA “C” Division 50-Over League Tournament 2024 was marred by bad weather.

The top half semi-final between Nawaloka Hospitals PLC (League No. 1) and David Pieris Group of Companies “A” (League No. 4), scheduled to be played at the PUSA Ground, Millaniya had to be postponed; and the bottom half semi-final between LOLC Holdings (League No. 2) and MAS Unichela (League No. 3) was played with a reduced number of overs at the Army Sapper Ground, Mattegoda. 

In a match reduced to 31 overs a side, LOLC Holdings advanced to the final with a comprehensive 91-run win over MAS Unichela. 

The match winners for LOLC Holdings were middle order batsman Lahiru Dhananjaya, who scored a belligerent 88 runs in 35 balls (9 sixes, 4 fours), and medium pace bowler Sayuru Udukumbura, who finished with impressive figures of seven overs, 33 runs, and four wickets.

LOLC Holdings will now meet the winner of the postponed semi-final between Nawaloka Hospitals PLC and David Pieris Group of Companies “A”.

The final is scheduled to be played on Saturday, 28 September.
