LPL 2020 radio broadcast by SLBC

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) will relaying ball-by-ball cricket commentaries for the Lanka Premier League 2020 (LPL) in three languages on the following frequencies,

• Colombo – 107.3
• Yatiyanthota – 107.5
• Haputale – 104.9
• Hunasgiriya – 97.4
• Deniyaya – 104.7 
• Radella – 102.1
• Karagahatenna – 97.4
• Kokavil – 89.8

SLBC is the pioneer radio broadcaster in Sri Lanka, even during the colonial period Radio Ceylon had broadcast international cricket matches both played locally and foreign tours. SLBC was the pioneer English radio broadcaster for school cricket ‘Big Matches’ like the ‘Battle of the Blues’ and the ‘Battle of the Saints’. 

In the early 1960s they laid the foundation for Sinhala commentary at the ‘Battle of the Maroons’ cricket big match between Ananda and Nalanda played at the Oval and the commentators were Karunathne Abeysekera, Palitha Perera, Premasara Epasinghe. 

English commentators for the LPL 2020 will be Ashley Ratnayake, Placidus Gomez, Kosala Sureshchandra, Amitha Abeynaike and Ricky Simms.
