Ladies Golf to tee off on 12 November in NEGC

The annually conducted Ladies events such as the Championship, Captain’s Cup and President’s Prize, are all three prestigious tournaments that will take place on 12 and 13 November at the century plus year old esteemed Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) course in the Hill Country.

The main sponsor will be Wurth Lanka Ltd. The historical first Ladies Club Championship was first played in 1939, while 20 years later the Captains Cup was played in 1959. President Prize was initiated in 1936 at NEGC. The first Ladies Club Championship, Ladies Captain’s Cup and Ladies President’s Prize were won by E.B. Curie, D.F.W. King and Gresham Jonson respectively.

 The defending champion of the Ladies Captain’s Cup and Club Champion is Arika Wickremasingha but unfortunately, she will not be in action as she is currently overseas for her higher studies. Ladies will be playing for Bronze Cup. Defending champion is Sumudu Desinghe.

 The Captains Cup will take place on 12 November while the President’s Prize will take place on the final day 13 November. The Ladies Club Championship will be played over two days on 12 and 13 November 2022.
