Sri Lanka Women came up with a pleasing batting performance ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier when they thrashed USA Women by 200 runs in a warm-up match played at Harare on Friday.
Winning the toss and batting first, Sri Lanka Women rattled off an impressive total of 326-5 and then followed it up with a fine bowling performance by dismissing their opponents for 126.
Sri Lanka Women’s total was made by some all-round batting contributions with Vice-Captain Harshitha Madavi top-scoring with 54 off 60 balls before retiring out. Skipper Chamari Atapattu cracked 41 off 28 balls in an opening stand of 61 off 46 balls with Hasini Perera (28).The American Women fell to the left-arm spin of Inoka Ranaweera and 20-year-old Sachini Nisansala who, between them, took five wickets.
Sri Lanka Women open their campaign to qualify for the Women’s World Cup against the Netherlands on Tuesday at Harare.
