The Sri Lanka Women’s cricket team led by Chamari Atapattu (pictured) left for Malaysia yesterday to take part in the Commonwealth Games T20 qualifier which will be held from 19-24 January. The team of 16 players and four reserves left without head coach Hashan Tillakaratne, who is recovering in hospital after being tested COVID-19 positive. Tillakaratne’s participation depends on him successfully undergoing a PCR test, two weeks after contracting the virus. Assistant coach Lanka de Silva will handle the side in his absence. Another former Sri Lanka cricketer Vinothen John is accompanying the team as manager.
