Gayan Perera scores a try for Vidyartha
Vidyartha College started kicked their Dialog League Under 20 rugby season when they got the better of Science College by 26 points (4 tries, 3 conversions) to 19 points (3 tries, 2 conversions) at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy yesterday.
At the short breather Vidyartha led 14/12.
The game was full of three quarter moves as both sides possessed good fast athletes. Science stood out in the first half but Vidyartha got plenty of territory advantage but failed to convert in to points in the entire game. But with the season maturing these guys are one of the outfits to be watched out for. The home team trailing 14/19 came back strongly in the last 10 minutes of the game with two tries to pull off a sensational win in their very first outing this season.
For Vidyartha, Ishara Kumara and Gayan Perera scored 2 tries each. Deshan Balasuriya converted two while Rusith Sarathkumara was on target with one kick.
For Science, their tries were scored by Ishara Udawatte, Ashen Ekanayake and Roshan Ragunath. Oshada Mahamudiyanselage converted two of them.
