Lee Martin Ixer appointed Director of Training at GSTC Tennis

The UK-born highly acclaimed tennis professional Lee Martin Ixer has been appointed as the Director of Training at GSTC Tennis, the exclusive tennis club. He will be heading the panel of professional coaches at GSTC and providing the required technical support.

Lee started playing tennis at the tender age of nine years in a small village in Lincolnshire, UK.

He migrated to New Zealand with his parents when he was 17 and at the age of 18 he undertook his professional coaching exams and started coaching tennis in the Wellington area in New Zealand. 

Lee, at the inception of his professional tennis training career, as early as 19 years of age, was head hunted by the well known resort company Club Med, where he spent 10 years working with mainly tennis, along with other sports and entertainment. 

This 10-year Club Med assignment took him around the globe from Tahiti, to New Caledonia, to Thailand, to Malaysia, to Mexico, to Australia, to Morocco, to Mauritius, to France, to South Africa, to Singapore and to the US. 

Lee was then offered a financially lucrative position in Saudi Arabia where he conducted tennis clinics and after six years relocated to Dubai where he spent the next two decades. During this stint in Dubai he got the opportunity to play tennis with many world renowned stars who toured Dubai. He speaks with great pride and self satisfaction that he had very rare opportunities of even sparring with great legends such as Novak Djokovic, Ana zvonareva  and Svetlana Kuznetsova to name a few.

Lee has found his calling in Sri Lanka and has decided to permanently locate himself in this paradise island. He says, “I enjoy wonderful weather, green nature, superfoods, great tennis and friendly people in Sri Lanka which has never been experienced before in my travels.”

Lee’s multi faceted talents extend to art and music.
