Low scoring featured the SLC Major T20 inter-club rescheduled matches on Wednesday apparently due to the wet weather conditions, sluggish pitches, and slow outfields.
Colts and Army SC maintained their unbeaten records in Group C and Group D with wins over Negombo CC and Kurunegala YCC respectively. Army SC’s win was carved out by their seamers Lakshan Gamage and Yasoda Mendis who combined well to share eight wickets to put out Kurunegala YCC for 88. Army SC improved their net run rate by scoring the required runs in 10.3 overs.
A fine all-round performance by Sri Lanka’s T20I cricketer Janith Liyanage (3/28 and 31) saw Ragama CC beat BRC by four wickets.
Former Sri Lanka ODI cricketer Sandun Weerakkody’s outstanding all-round effort (53 and 4/18) failed to stop Panadura SC from beating NCC by three wickets with an over to spare. With that win Panadura SC went to the top of Group B displacing BRC. – (ST)
