Karate being one of the popular sports in Sri Lanka today, Leeds International School – Panadura has been organising the Karate Championship for the International Schools since the year 2009.
Lyceum International School, Wattala has been maintaining the Championship trophy for the past seven years, earning its victory this year too, under the guidance of Sensei R.J. Alexander. The tournament was held recently at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Colombo, where 16 international schools participated.
Lyceum Wattala gained 174 medals to claim the Championship while Leeds International School became Runners Up with 98 medals and Lyceum International School, Nugegoda came in 3rd place with a Medal count of 60.
Lyceum Wattala also walked away with the Under 8, 10, 11, 12 & 16 upcoming player trophies and Under 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 & 18 Age group championship trophies, displaying excellence in skill and discipline.
